We advise a minimum stay in the Hide-A-Way of 2 nights.
Then you have at least one full day to see a few beautiful parts
of the programs we offer. If you want to see it all, then 4 days
and 3 nights will be an appropriate time to stay with us.
DAY 1: Leave from Bangkok in an air-conditioned sleeper
train or from Chiang Mai in a day train. If you start in Chiang
Mai, the program begins on day 2.
DAY 2: Transfer from Ban Bin train station in a local
open taxi. After arriving in the Hide-A-Way a bungalow will be assigned
to you. After breakfast: pony cart tour to the village Saloke.
Wondering why they always go with 2 carts? The second pony is a
bit afraid of everything and won't go without the other! This is
followed by a short trekking with the local guide upstream.
In the afternoon you'll visit the beautiful 7 tier waterfall
and visitor center at Wieng Kosai National Park. In the
Hide-A-Way the staff prepares a copious diner, which will be served
in the elevated and open restaurant. From here you have a wonderful
view on the tobacco fields, the rice paddies and, of course, the
jungle. After diner you will be glad to return to your bungalow.
Before you fall asleep you can watch the programs on the satellite-tv.
DAY 3: After breakfast we make an educational fun
hiking tour for 2 hours where collecting and catching your own
food is involved. The local guide leads you through the forests
along a small creek, where you learn about edible herbs and vegetables
growing wild a small amount of which you need collect for
your lunch. After about 90 minutes of hiking, you arrive at a scenic
spot, where you can learn how the locals catch fish. If you are
adventurous and dont mind getting wet, you can try to trap
some fish yourself
You also have the chance to learn about local cooking in a very
natural style. For lunch, fish and pork are barbequed on wooden
sticks, while vegetables are cooked in bamboo trunks. Salads are
prepared freshly right in front of you. This feast is prepared by
a team of locals who are happy to introduce you to their time-honoured
way of cooking.
After this culinary inspiration, and some after-lunch relaxation,
the hike carries on for another half hour or so, leading to back
to our Hide-A-Way. Here local women will be waiting to give you
a real Saloke massage. Refresh yourself and join us for another
copious diner. Spend the night in your bungalow.
DAY 4: Breakfast and time for a short drive up the mountain
for a fabulous view point. Down the mountain, take a stroll
with your guide to explore the small village town of Wang Chin.
It is located along the Yom river. Your guide will take your
through town and the village market to see how the local people
do business and shop. Lunch about 14.00 hours (departure depends
on transport out time), check out and head to Salang temple,
a mixture of old and new. After exploring the temple and surrounding
area you can clean up in the hot mineral springs. From here
it's about 10 minutes to the train station. Travel by day train
(2nd class air-conditioning) to Chiang Mai or Bangkok for your onward
journey. Enjoy the countryside with beautiful rice paddies and mountains.
Early evening arrival in Chiang Mai or Bangkok.
And at any time you are welcome to visit the kitchen and observe
how to cook Thai food.
advise you to buy medical and travel insurance in your
home country as it is impossible in Thailand to do that
with the same coverage.
Included: all mentioned
meals, transfers and excursions. Communication with
the local people will be limited, because of their (lack
of) English. Transport with local taxi's, air-conditioned
second class day train or night train with sleepers.
If fully booked, transport can be with airco VIP-bus
(sleeping seats and toilet).
Accommodation: comfortable fan cooled bungalows
with veranda, refrigerator, satellite tv, coffee and
tea making facilities and a separate bathroom with warm
and cold shower and toilet.
For this program you need
a good physical condition. If you are in doubt, consult
forget to bring: protection against
